Hello. This bracelet was purchased in a charming little resale shop in Toulon France. It is quite heavy at 77 g. Any help deciphering these Hallmark symbols would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
How exciting! Wonder how it made it all the way to France. I love the mystery of provenance. Any help deciphering the codes (city/silver content, date, maker, etc?) Or a suggestion of a resource?
The item is silver, as you know, and as indicated by the center hallmark of the lotus flower which is Egypt's country hallmark for silver. The mark on the left is the purity hallmark with 80 in Arabic numerals meaning that the item is 800 or 80% silver. The town of assay, the Arabic characters above the fineness, is not distinct enough at this distance to be sure what it is. A more close up image (and sharp) would help. The hallmark on the right is the year range letter that indicates when the item was hallmarked. This is the Arabic letter 's' and represents the hallmarking years of 1959-1961.
