Unknown Crystal Carafe with Stirling lip

We have this carafe in the family and can not identify who may have made it. The original owners lived in New York City from 1918 through the 40's.

The only hallmark is an outline greek cross, followed by "Sterling 73IX 925-1000 fine". Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.
