Nurse Belt Buckle - Help with mark

Post by JBirkett »

I bought this Nurse belt buckle which was sold as sterling silver 1920-1925. I asked if it was hallmarked and was shown the numbers on the buckle which appear to be 925 and this is what I was told they were. Since looking on this website I am concerned as it appears that it should also have another mark with it so I don't know about it's authenticity. Any help on this would be appreciated. I bought it as a 40th birthday gift for my niece who is in nursing but don't want to give her something that is essentially rubbish. Thanks for reading.

Hi JBirkett,

Welcome to the Forum.

Although the item is not hallmarked, there is a very good chance the item is silver. A visit to your local jeweller should remove any doubts.
