Any new news would be good news!

Post by seven11 »

I am guilty of having posted this question previously, approximately 12 -18 months ago, but there are many new members, lots of new knowledge, so I would like to try again. Previous comments and ideas on this piece: it is German, Russian, the markings are "Fantasy Marks", and I read a suggested article on Hanau silver. I have searched and read, and again - lest you think I simply watched time roll by. Once again, I am grateful for any help provided. Thank you.

This probably isn't much help, but I would agree with whoever said it was german with pseudomarks, made circa 1900 probably for the export market. I have handled quite alot of these sorts of boxes, both Dutch and German, with English import marks next to the spurious marks.

Yes, definitely Hanau and definitely Gebruder Dingeldein. Try searching the forums for "Dingeldein" for more information.
