Need Help Identifying Silver Mark On Sterling Tea Strainer

Post by maryb2790 »

I have a vintage sterling silver tea strainer but I am not able to identify the mark on the side. I have looked through this site, but wasn't able to match it to anything that I had seen. The first three marks are a crown in a circle, then an M (I think) in a shield, and last is a lion in a cirlce. After that is the word Sterling B210. The handle on the strainer appears to be bakelite. I tried to post pictures but couldn't figure out how to do it. Thank you so much for any information you can provide.

That might be a "W" instead of an "M". If so, could be a mark used by the Watson Company, Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Thank you very much Pat. I looked at the letter again and since it seems that the top is closed, it looks like an M and not a W. But I can see where it probably is a W. Thanks so much!
