Question about Marks on Tray?

Post by jacksonsvl19l »

Hello Everyone. Picked up this piece, and through my research I've found: Frederick Brasted - London 1881.
It's 5 in. wide, by 2 3/4 in. long - 29.1 grams.
Two questions really. First, does it look authentic, or were there pseudo-marks made; and second, what is it. The edges all around are raised slightly, so my guess is a pin tray?

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

The hallmark looks OK to me. Although the duty and sterling mark are not well-defined I think that can be put down to 134 years of wear. I have seen similar work with Brasted's mark and would agree that pin tray is probably a good description.
