We found this item among my mothers in law's belongings after she passed away. We were told that it may be Austrian or Hungarian, late 18th century. Can anyone help us identify the origins and the maker? thank you very much
Austria/hungaria is correct. The womans head Ãn at 5x circle.
You can see it here. http://www.925-1000.com/foreign_marks.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A letter and a figure states town and purity. so take a closer look.
Thanks muchly for the information! would you know perhaps what the letters KA mean in the marking near Diana's head? I would need a microscope to see if there is any other marking within the frame of the head, since it is extremely small.
Sorry KA is the maker and I do not have any books covering Austria Hungaria - but someone probably commes around.
The figure can be 1, 2, 3 or 4
The letter gives the city where A is Wienna.
But try to focus the 2 symbols are in front of her eye or her mouth. And 180 degrees from eye or mouth.
And yes its small - I have had same problem with some spoons. But all at once it was there.
