It looks like "27 Fist 4" where the Fist is the symbol for Italy during 1930's.

It looks like "24 symbol L-"

Ok so it is not a fist, it is the Roman Cruces symbol. And It is either LC or LT as the city abbreviation. It is certainly an "L" and then ?.

I still think the first 2 digits read "24."

The only other thing I wanted to say, other than to express frustration, was about the Platinum Button on this Cigarette Case.

In 1935, Italy invaded Ethiopia and set up a government known as "Italian East Africa" which encompassed Ethiopia, Eritrea and other surrounding areas. I don't know if you would call this a colony or an occupation or whatever, but it only lasted several years until finally the Axis powers were defeated and Ethiopia was restored. In 1936, I found a newspaper article that says "ITALIANS TO SEEK RARE METALS IN ETHIOPIAN HILLS," and then I found a description of a large Platinum mine in the Yubdo district of Ethiopia. The workers there did not want to be paid in Italian Lira, and instead demanded to be paid in the Austrian Thaler, which had been a commonly accepted currency in East Africa since the 1700s. The Italian rulers of the Platinum mine did pay in Thalers, which was quite expensive due to the exchange rate between Lira and Thalers.

All this is speculation, but perhaps the solid platinum button on this case originated in the Yubdo platinum mines of Ethiopia circa 1936. Perhaps this cigarette box belonged to an officer, although it is not engraved as such.

Hello Aguest
Your photos are too small to see anything.
In the Italian hallmark of the 30's there is the symbol of the fasces between numbers and letters.
http://www.925-1000.com/Fitalian_marks_01.html
However something is wrong because in those years there are only three provinces beginning with the L: Livorno (LI), Latina (LT) and Lucca (LU), and none of the three reached the number 20.
Can you tell us what indicates that the button is platinum? It 'a very strange thing.
Best

appreciate the help, for some reason will not clear my cookies and I cannot use that service. I must be misreading the stamp somehow. I promise I have tried everything to get these images enlarged. I will keep working on it.
