Hello,
This French wine-taster has a lot of marks. Weight: 72 gr.; diameter 8,6 cm; length overall (with the handle): 11,2 cm; height: 2,5 cm. The marks are on (the upper part of) the handle and on the body (next to the "snake"). Inscription on the body: "C. De Brienne". The master-mark is struck several times on the body (and also the handle, as far as I can see. However these are badly struck). For the marks I see: fleur-the-lis crowned with two dots representing the "grains de remede", the maker's initials: FAN and his emblem: a five point star. On the body is another mark that looks like a crown above an "I" and under the "I" a "D". The marks are clear, but I have never seen these marks before and I can't find them in my books. Anyone has any idea?
Regards,

Unknown mark on a French wine-taster
Re: Unknown mark on a French wine-taster
Hi,
Up till now, nothing came up regarding the makers mark and the town mark. So, to have an idea where to look (region, date) I cleaned the small mark on the body and the handle, that I overlooked. I had the idea that it was the discharge mark and it certainly looked like one. I first thought it to be the discharge mark for Paris 1750-1756, but after a better cleaning it appeared to be the .800 hall-mark for small articles, introduced in 1838. So this wine-taster is a fake and it is of no use to do research after the maker.
