I found this watch case recently and have not been able to identify the maker or the correct date. I did find the sterling mark and Chester. Thank you for your help.

Re: Pocket Watch Hallmark Help
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
The year of assay would be 1873, but a clearer image of the maker's mark I think will be required for a positive ID.

Re: Pocket Watch Hallmark Help
It's JF, which is the mark of John Fleckner, a specialist watch case maker, whose address in 1873 was 38 Mount Street, Chapel Fields, Coventry. This mark was registered at the Chester Assay Office on 2 Feb 1870. This mark was also registered at the London Assay Office on 24 Jan 1870.
