G.C. Shreve Coin Silver Fork

Post by finderskeypurs »

Hello,I was wondering the age and pattern of this early Shreve fork, my reference says they only did flatware from 1900 on, but this is definately earlier, also my refernces don't show the pattern, I'm sure it is a basic early pattern others who are more knowlegable know off the top of there head that many makers did. Also, I was wondering why this "G. C. Shreve" mark isn't in the encyclopedia here with the other 2 Shreve marks.
Thanks,
Tom

The mark is for George Choate Shreve, used before his partnership with Lucius Thompson and the adoption of the commonly known "Shreve & Company" in 1859/1860.

Thanks Wev.
So somewhere between 1850-1857 in NY or SF?
I will look to see if I can find the pattern under other makers to see if it was used by lots of people around that time.
Thanks,
Tom
