Hi all, and thanks for this great site. I found these two items yesterday and have been working on identifying them. Sadly, the hallmarks are very hard to read, but a guy who looked at them for me did a silver test and they came back positive.
I'm curious about use, age and where they are from. Anyone who can help? I've tried my best with the pictures, but I'm not sure if it's good enough. They are about 13 centimeters high and the bottoms are filled with a tar-smelling substance.
Set of vases (or parts thereof), but mystery marks (shape of spade, etc.)

I can add that they were found in Sweden, so I can't rule that out. Also, the last letter could be "U".

The U looks pretty similar to this one from 1795. Not sure what you guys think. (from http://www.silvercollection.it/dictiona ... marks.html )

HI, no yours are made early 20th century and a little over polished hence the faded marks.

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
The marks appear to be for William Hutton & Sons, Birmingham 1919.
