Hi
could somebody help me decypher the marks on this candle snuffer I bought. The mark looks to be Hamburg (but a little hard to date exactly). There is an 818 below the mark, and a maker's mark that looks like the one from Matthias Fisscher. Does anybody know whether is is indeed Hamburg, or when it dates>
Thanks in advance,
Kasper

Hi Kasper,
Not Hamburg, but Genoa. The date would be 1818.
I'll move the topic to 'Other Countries'.

Unless that triangular mark represents a maker, there appears to be not one present.

The little type of round mark above the triangular mark I thought might be a maker's mark. It looks to be a fish. Maybe I am imagening things, but it is a mark struck (whereas the triangular marks are part of the fabrication).
Thanks for the help so far.

The dolphin is a Genoese mark, not a maker's mark.
