I have no idea if this is actually the unknown maker HI or IH from the Channel Islands Guernsey. The hallmark shares similarities with other hallmarks I have seen by this maker, but the stamp actually belongs to a group of makers or perhaps a family so it does vary slightly. If you look closely, you can see the "zigzag line" that seems to appear in other stamps by this maker or group of makers or family perhaps. Interesting that there is a "lowercase v dot E" monogram on the handle and when you flip over the spoon there is a "lowercase v dot N" on the other side. I wonder if somehow this is consistent with the French language or a tradition of French monograms, because I have learned that there is a French influence on the silversmiths of Guernsey?
