Hello all. Zane from Florida. New to the forums. I have come across these two spoons and looking through the forum and site, only see similar ones. Any chance that someone might know a little more about them? Thanks yall.
I agree with South America for the 0900 mark. The decoration on the handle looks like it could have a Swedish connection which is not unreasonable. Argentina is one place that had a Swedish settlement in the mid to late nineteenth century.
While I've only seen sets of South American souvenir spoons showing different countries, suspect these may from a set commemorating the capitals of various countries - the coats of arms resemble those of Bogota and Lima. The design is similar to couple of Colombian spoons in Rainwater's 'Spoons Around the World', and other Colombian spoons with similar marks and design elements can be found online...
