Ladle with Wood Handle mark WK

Post by jacksonsvl19l »

Hello.
I'd like to know who this would be attributed to.
In my research I have come up with William Knight II or William King. Is this correct?
I think the date letter is an I, but it may be an L, it's partially rubbed.
It is approx. 7 5/8 inches long, and weighs 13 grams
As always, I appreciate any help. Thanks.

I think that the date letter is probably "l" for 1826 - the duty mark looks right for that date. Both Knight and King registered very similar marks and both were working in 1826/27. Knight registered (or re-registered) his mark 3 times; we may therefore perhaps assume that he was more prolific than King so maybe the odds are on it being his mark.
