Hello All, here's a pair of silverware (matching fourk and spoon) from the 18th century, in the style of filets, double seashell, and hallmarked for Paris, 1766, but I am having trouble figuring out who the silvermith might be....
Four hallmarks visible on both silverware:
1. Charge mark for Paris, 1762-1768 (crowned A with laurel)
2. Discharge mark for Paris, 1762-1768 (dog head - tete de braque)
3. Letter date mark for Paris, 1766 (crowned C)
4. Silversmith mark - initials "TBB"?, and a star (see photos)
Initially, I thought it was Jean-Baptiste Bertin ("JBB", a star - became silversmith in 1740, died 1770/1771), but the photos look more like the initials "TBB"..any help or insight would be appreciated, thank you in advance, fermiersgeneraux

Re: Need help identifying silversmith on 18th French silverware
Hello
The charge, discharge and date letter marks are not legible on my monitor.
However, the maker appears to be Thomas-Bonnaventure Barat. Barat was apprenticed on 29 October 1746 to Jean Thibaron, received as a master on 21 January 1766, and registered his mark on 26 January of that year (TBB, a star), residing rue St. Bon in Paris. He was listed as retired on 10 December 1781. See Nocq, v. I, p. 64.
If the maker is correct, then this is a very early example of Barat's work according to the other marks.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much, JayT - your insight and information is always on point.
I'm reasonably sure of the dating of the hallmarks, but of course, as it goes with these things, I could be wrong. I'm listing below additional close-ups of the other hallmarks for everyone's consideration and input.
