I am trying to find out anything I can about this silver. Inherited from my French Great Grandmother (north of France). There is a mark that kind of looks like a four legged animal. Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
Please provide a sharp close-up of the marks on the handles.
You are far more likely to get a response if you embed your images as very few people will click on links.

As far as I know Ercuis produced only plated flatware not solid silver. The number 18 on the handle stands for the thickness of the silver coating.

Hello
I didn't click on your photo links, but if your flatware is by Ercuis, please look at the silverplate marks here:
http://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_E2.html
The company is still in business; if the pattern of your flatware is in production you'll find it on the company website; if not, you could always email them for the name.
Hope this helps.

Hello Ashmcc,
on the homepage of Ercuis I saw that nowadays they produce solid silver too; but your flatware is plated.
