Italian Maker's Mark?

Post by Badger3000 »

Hello,
I have just purchased this lovely Silver Cigarette case which is Marked inside the case on both sides, 900 in a rectangle below the initials PA also in a rectangle with two rounded corners. I believe this is the Italian mark for Pissa although the 900 is baffling me as Italian silver is usually 800 or so. Any way the main question I have is that there is another mark on the clasp next to the 900 marked on the clasp which is very small but looks like a floral anchor in a triangular surround I have managed to photo this with my macro. Does any one know what this mark refers to? is it the Maker's mark and if so who? or is it an old silver gauge mark?
Any one out there who knows? I would much appreciate any help.
Many Thanks

Hi,
It is ``Anchor`` export mark for Bohemia and Moravia used after 1939.
Will try to get more detailed info. In the meantime, this is it.
Best wishes

Very inconsistent data: it seems the mark was used since 1942 and for some time after WW II, even as late as the `60. Also on ``old silver``.
The cigarette case looks like typical art deco period. Is this the only mark?
