Hi, need help with identifying hallmark on silverware, couldnt find the coding on any international indexing.
The 4 numbers on the spoon seem to be a series, and is different from one item in the set to another (e.g: spoons run from 1146 to 1155, tea spoons are 2735 to 2742, etc)
Couldnt upload the photos...all items have a crown in a triangle mark, followed by 4 digits and then B4.
Thanks!

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
Your question cannot be answered without the required images. The below should help you:

Hi,
It appears to be a Romanian mark for .800 silver, not silver plate.
The marks have been discussed here:
http://925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34902
Numbers are not relevant (factory serial numbers, production line etc.).
Best wishes

Hi,
This topic shows the importance of providing images.
From what I can see, these are Romanian. See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 524#p90524
Can you provide a sharper, larger close-up of the marks? Someone better qualified in Romanian marks may be able to tell us more.

Hope this is a better picture, thank you for the help!

Hi Suzanap,
That's certainly a better image of the 'B4' mark. Can you select the best example of the 'Crown' mark, and capture an image of that?

Re: Please help identify

This is the clearest one, hope it helps.
Re: Please help identify
That's great. We can clearly see the the two strokes that indicate a fineness of 800/1000 silver, in use 1937-1949, confirming AG2012's thoughts:

Can you make out the letter below the crown?

Hi,
Prior to 1949 letter A was used for the capital Bucharest, letter L was attributed to Muntenia province, and branch assay offices C, N, O and P have not been identified. From 1949-1955 two digit number replaced letters (10 for Bucharest). Currently, there are 21 assay offices, but main assay office cannot be accessed for any further information.
In conclusion, beside 800/1000 silver mark, in use 1937-1949, that`s all we can tell for the time being.
Unlike Czech and Hungarian assay offices with excellent archives of historic marks, Romanian assay office cannot be accessed, even in their language.
Best regards
