Hi. This is my first time posting a question. I have a coin silver fork with hallmarks I can't identify. The top mark is worn. There is the number 12 and another with initials. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
In my opinion the fork was made in Germany. The fineness of 12 Loth (.750) was more common in the east of the country. Made before 1886. Cannot recognize town mark right now (out of focus, too).
Let`s wait what other members of the forum have to say.
Best wishes
the design of the fork and the arrangement of the marks let me think, that it was made in Romania. The 12 Loth mark was common there.
Hello AG2012, the distribution of 12 Loth in Germany is not only in the eastern part. From Lower Saxony I also know mostly only 12 Loth silver, and North Rhine-Westphalia is mixed.
