German Silver Mark

Post by dishmort »

I inherited a sterling silver tea set that was purchased in Germany around 1957-1958 by my parents. The paper's we have on it say that it is from "Schwaebisch-Gmuend, the Silver City".

The marks are a half moon, a crown, 925, JP(in a circle). The JP is made as one symbol with the letters joined together. Under these marks it says "Sterling" and under that it says "Handwork".

Another paper we have shows, we believe, the salesman's name:
Heinz Botsch - Schwaebisch Gumend
Hohenstaufen - Strasse 2 Telefon 3446

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! If anyone could tell us how to make a picture of the marks that would also be appreciated.
