Would appreciate help with identifying this artist. I have been told it is Antonio Castillo, however I would like to confirm this. Thanks for any assistance.

Hi,
A reliable reference is needed to prove it`s Antonio Castillo`s mark.
Take a look here, please.

The one posted on 925-1000 where he (AC) stated it was not his is the mark is missing the wreath (leaf) motif surrounding the overlap AC.Hope that helps he used the mark on other stamped pieces not missing the wreath.

Hi,
You may have noticed most of comments here are based on reliable references, the same way scientific research and studies are performed. Meaning, assumptions cannot be accepted in positive mark identification and attribution. I am aware there is no ``wreath`` in Castillo`s mark (the link). On the other hand, initials (letters) are exactly the same. But that`s another circumstantial evidence. Again, a reliable reference is needed.
Another circumstantial evidence to determine approximate age;typical leather scent should have completely disappeared if the belt was made more than half a century ago.
Regards
