Hello all,
I'm new to this website so apologies if I haven't posted in the right place. When I was about 6 years old I fell over outside a lovely elderly lady's house on my way to school with my mother. The lady invited us in to clean up my knee and when she found out my name was Grace she said she had something for me. That's when she gave me this lovely silver bag. It's been sat doing nothing on my dresser for 14 years and I thought I should probably look into who made this bag and when. I've gotten as far as knowing it was made by 'Henry Williamson Ltd' and I think the picture represents London? It's just the 'S' and the word on the front I'd like to know about. I cannot find any images of this bag online. I'd really like to know when it was made!
Many thanks,
Grace.

Re: Need help identifying this bag?
Hi,
Welcome to the forum
Your bag was imported to UK by Henry Williamson Ltd. Farringdon Road, London & Spencer Street, Birmingham
It bears London assay office import mark (post 1904) and date letter ``S`` for 1913.
The mark on the left (Henry Williamson Ltd) is called sponsor`s mark.
Regards

For British import marks take a look here:
http://www.925-1000.com/importmarks.html
``925`` is of course sterling.
