The crescent moon hallmarks were applied on non -jewellery silver items with a minimum fineness of 750 (75% pure silver) that had been made by 1887. While the new domestic silver hallmarks and standards went into effect in 1887, the transitional marks were used from 1887 to 1903. The L for assay office Lisbon.
