Help with strange hallmark
Re: Help with strange hallmark
Not a hallmark but an import & duty mark, the Gothic E used 1832-1869 see:

Import and duty mark of the Kingdom of Belgium used 1832 till 1869. The mark represents a Gothic E for étranger meaning foreign. The import and duty mark does not give any guarantee of a precious metal standard or fineness. Used on metal with a 250 minimum silver content as a duty mark. The mark was destined for all imported, unmarked and invalid marked objects of foreign, national and unknown origin.

Are there no other marks? The zig zag mark is made by the assayer, where silver was removed to check the fineness of the silver alloy.

Hi Oel,
I'm still figuring out how to work with the forum and how to reply, that's why I reposting many time the same message.
No there are no other hallmarks on the spoons, only what you see on the photos, namely the Import and duty mark and the zig zag mark.
Once again many thenks or your help.
