Hello -- I am a complete neophyte, so please excuse my ignorance here. ;-) This dish belonged to my grandmother, who claimed that it was a finer piece than most of her other silver (she collected quite a lot). Unfortunately the marks are so worn that I have not been able to figure out even which country the piece is from. I was guessing perhaps France, because of the lozenge mark. Honestly, I can't even figure out which direction the marks read (that is, whether I have the piece right side up). I've looked through this website but I haven't been able to ID the marks yet. Any advice on how to start (which country?) would be so appreciated.
I apologize for the photos -- I've tried multiple cameras, but I'm having trouble showing any relief on the marks -- they are just so shallow. My best guess is that one of them (the first) is torch-shaped; the lozenge shaped 2nd I can't make out at all; the third looks very much like an open hand; and the fourth like either a flower or the profile of a person.

Hi TexasTuthill,
I have no problem seeing your photos via the links, so I don't think they are password protected. However, if you want the best information and outcome from your post, it is advisable to embed your photos, therefore removing the need for members to clink on a link. Many members refuse to do so as unknown links can be infected.
I have embedded your two best photos for you:
Cheers,
Steve

Thank you so much, Steve! I followed the instructions for embedding the images but they never displayed, hence the links...sorry for that. Thank you for fixing my problem! :-)

Hi,
I am pretty sure that these marks are not French, even with one which is lozenge-shaped.
Personnally, I do not think it is British either, but I could not tell more.
