6 Spoons - HELP!

Post by johnno42000 »

Hi,

I have purchased the 6 spoons shown. I am very confused as to the marks shown on them. They seem to be some sort of presentation spoons for, I'd guess Polo, as the handles have a hoof on each and there looks to be mallets and a ball where the bowl of the spoon starts.

I'm guessing they may have been gold plated at one time, hence the 18 G, but that is purely a guess as they aren't plated now. Someone suggested to me that they may be Persian but I couldn't find anything like the mark.

Please could someone help?

Thanks

John

Hi John,

To understand the '18g' mark, see:

Hi,
They are French silver plated. Number of grams of silver used for silver plating.
Have a look here for numbers on silver plated items:

And here:

Hi dognose and AG2012.

Many thanks to you both for letting me know what the spoons are made from.

Kind regards
