Re: Sampson Morgan - Pill Dispenser?

Post by johnno42000 »

Hi,

I have recently purchased this item and was wondering if anyone had any other ideas (other than a pill dispenser) for what it may it is? I have tried looking for another pill dispenser in this shape by Sampson Mordan and cannot find one.

It is 5.7 cms tall and weighs 14 grams. Stamped on either end is the lion passant so I think it is one whole piece and not part of another. The hallmark along the length of the item is S. Mordan & Co and, although rubbed, I have just about identified the date letter as being for 1926.

The reason I think it is a pill dispenser is that the item is a little like a pez sweet toy. You push one end and the other end opens and would allow for a pill to be dispensed. There is also an arrow on the inside of the top end (ie opposite end to where the pill would come out). I don't think it is the sign for the military.

Any help would be gratefully received,

kind regards

John
