GERO GN silver-plated teapot information

Hello,

I have been using this teapot for years and just recently thought to get some history on it.



The handle is wrapped with something like rattan. It's pictured with a stand, but I don't think they're supposed to be a set (no idea).

I've looked through this site and assume the teapot was produced in either the Netherlands or in Denmark, but I could be wrong...

I haven't noticed a mark (on this site) that is similar to the dotted line and double borders around GERO. There are also initials GN and a P.




It would be interesting to know where this teapot came from and how old it it, for conversation's sake anyway.

Please let me know if there is any information (if any) on this pot.

I have actually read through a ton of the GERO stuff posted on this site, but I don't see anything with the same stamp as I've indicated. It's not a big deal, I am curious though…

Hi, GN is for Georg Nilsson, the designer and this particular " dotted " GERO mark could be for the Copenhagen factory and for non silver plated items like New- silver/Alpacca. At the moment no access to my files on Gero, will check later this month.

I was wondering if it could have been in those years in Denmark (as gleaned from info on this site).

Thanks for confirming the initials too. I'll read up a bit more on him. :)

I read that the P could mean silver-plated, but it seems like it's silver and not plated; however, I am by no means an expert. It doesn't matter, really. I am glad I'm getting closer to discovering its secrets though. :)

Hi Renée

Indeed The Gero factory in Denmark used a capital P, probably for Plated. Looking at your teapot, it appears to be made out of non precious white metal, not silver. The white metal could be New-silver/Alpac(c)a and originally could have been plated, although I doubt it has.

Georg Nilsson born in 1888 Denmark and trained by the famous"Georg Jensen" was hired by Gero in Copenhagen as a designer & craftsman. The " dotted" GERO mark could have been based upon/in resemblance to Jensen's "dotted" mark(s).

It's great that you could tie Nilsson's/Jensen's dots to the GERO logo.
