I have what appears to be a Simons Co. Walking Stick purchased about 1895 in excellent condition including the ebony stick. There are other hallmarks however which I could use assistance in identifying. Any assistance to identify if it is gold filled, gold, etc. is very welcome.
Additionally, when I hold the stick, there feels to be something heavy, possibly metal free within the wood running the length of the stick which is 91.5 cm long, apx. 36”. The knob top doesn’t seem to come off although if it ever did, it hasn’t been touched in at least 15-20 years. Any and all assistance is welcome!
Gold Walking Stick/Cane Identification Assistance
Re: Gold Walking Stick/Cane Identification Assistance
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
It has been mentioned on the forum before that the '2' is an indicator mark of gold filled, but I've yet to see anything concrete to back that up. Hopefully another member has some detail about this.
