Girl holding candlesticks mark ...?

Post by ceanag »

Hi, I have an Art Deco Lucite box for Cigarillos ...It has the word Cigarallos and 2 decorative motifs attached to the box which I believe to be silver. There are two tiny hinges which are also hallmarked.
Most of the hallmarks are illegible as they are only about 1mm in size and worn.
I have photographed the best mark but even the macro on my camera couldnt make it clearer than this pic.
Can anyone identify this mark...It is like a girl wearing a flared dress and holding two candlesticks...? The top part of the mark has a 3 digit number with one or more 8s in it ...
My apologies for the quality ..

The upper mark is that used in Porto, Portugal, from 1938-1984 on items of .833 silver: a rooster's head over "833", in a canted rectangle. The lower mark is the maker's mark of Portuguese maker Barnabé França, working in Gondomar, 1933-1951: "B" above a candelabrum, in a trapezoid.

Hope this helps!
