Is this spoon Kinsale ?

Hi,
I have a rat tail table spoon with a pronounced rib on the front of the handle.
Probably original initials AE on the reverse along with 2 x W marks and a 3rd worn mark.
It looks and feels Irish but the W marks are not quite the same as Kinsale examples, maybe an unrecorded one ?
Any help appreciated in pinning down a maker and location for this spoon.

No, you are correct, that isn't Joseph & William Wall's mark. I'm unaware of any unrecorded marks for this family.

thanks for the input on my spoon.
It has an Irish feel to it so are there any other likely attributions in early Irish makers ?
A shame not to pin it down to a maker when the W mark is so clear.

Hi Robert,

The only other Irish 'W' I can trace is James Whitthorne, mid 18th century but it isn't his mark either. Refer Jackson's page 635.

Hi Gordon,

I did see the James Whitthorne maker mark you refer to.
The only mark that I have found near to this one is the Kinsale one.
I have not found any mark similar from other countries, do you feel it is Irish in origin ?
There must be another item with this maker mark for comparison even if not on a spoon.
