Could the D AND FS be CS*FS?

FS LTD could be Finnigans Ltd.

M BROS possibly Mitchell Bros.

C&N possibly Crisford & Norris.

It would be easier to help you if you could post pics of the marks.

Thanks Carling for your swift response.

Can you help us with the source of your information. Is it available on the web?

The above were off the top of my head but there are some useful sites. See British makers on this web site:
http://www.925-1000.com/british_marks.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also:

http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://thimbleselect.bizland.com/silversmiths.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There are also a number of books you may wish to reference such as Jackson's Silver and Gold Marks of England, Scotland & Ireland and Maurice H. Ridgway and Philip T. Priestley, The Compendium of Chester Gold & Silver Marks 1570 to 1962.
