Dating Towle King Richard Sterling Silverware
Dating Towle King Richard Sterling Silverware
I recently inherited an incomplete set of King Richard silverware by Towle and I am trying to complete the set. Most of the set was purchased during the 50's and 60's and hallmarked with the Towle lion and "TOWLE STERLING". The spoons also have and "X" to the left of the lion hallmark. One piece has the lion hallmark and "STERLING PAT. 1932". My internet research has been fruitless. Can anyone tell (or point me to a reference) which is the earlier marking? I would also like to know the meaning of the X. Thanks for your help.

Sorry for not posting pics, I didn't think they were needed since identifying the maker or pattern was not necessary.
Main hallmark
Pat 1932
unidentified "X"
Thanks again for your help.
