Hi Board..
I have this beautifully made bracelet which is marked twice to the front clasp.
The mark appears to be an emblem then a walking cat? And the latter L.
On the opposite clasp it has the emblem and the letter L.
All in square and they look British at first look but they aren’t.
Any help as to where to start looking...country etc.
Much appreciated.
Bri.
Silver fillagree bracelet mystery marks
Re: Silver fillagree bracelet mystery marks
I have just been searching and worked out the piece is Egyptian with a finesse mark then the cat mark and the date letter L for 1936/37 so that’s a mystery I have managed to solve myself but adds some info to the board.
Cheers

Re: Silver fillagree bracelet mystery marks
Hi,
It`s Egypt before 1946 when the cat was replaced with lotus flower.
See here:

Will try to date it although the image of the marks is not very sharp.

Re: Silver fillagree bracelet mystery marks
Cairo .900 fineness Similar numeral 6 without loop is too low .600 fineness for filigree. So, it`s .900.Correct year if the letter is L. If I then it`s 1933 - 34.
Re: Silver fillagree bracelet mystery marks
Thanks for the info....I was just trying to work out the finesse....so .900 Cairo and date letter L for 1936/37.
Wow is didn’t realise it was so old it’s a really nice piece..
The other bangle came from the same source but is different and made with more skill I believe..
Once again cheers for the help.
