Hi Legrandmogol
Thank you very much for you reply ,great stuff,at least it is a start.Would the number 4 be part of the makers name? or to do with the import mark ? What country do you think the box was made in any guesses?
Regards Guido.
Hi,
Date letter ``V`` is either 1920 or 1945.
Number 4 is irrelevant; manufacturer`s serial, design, inventory number etc for internal use.
Heart shaped mark is either sponsor`s or maker`s mark but it`s too blurry.
(a set of British import marks should include sponsor`s mark).
Regards
Hi AG2012
Many thanks for your reply.
I think you are right the heart shape contains the letters FH&co,and I think as you say it is probably the sponsors(importers) mark.It has been suggested this may be for Francis Higgins ,I cannot find their mark on the site.It may be Francis Higgins 111 .I am trying to establish a date for when the box was made. I think their is a small mark that has not come up in the images, that may be a makers mark or country mark ,may be France. How do you tell if V is for 1920or1945?
Regards Guido.
