Help with Persian Hallmark
Help with Persian Hallmark
I have a silver box (tested positive for silver) that I believe comes from Iran. The only mark anywhere is the Lion holding a curved sword. Does anyone recognize this mark?

Hi,
It is Iranian, Tardy notes that the mark was put into use as of 1967. It is for .840 purity, with a double line around the cartouche, it is for .900 fineness. I would assume that the mark stopped being used when the Shah was deposed. Hope this helps.
Regards, Tom
ps. would be great if you could submit a clear image of the mark for the website. Thanks
