French 19th C silver syringe marks

Hi All,

I have a French silver syringe which I think is early 19th C and have a couple of makers marks which I am having difficutly identifying. There are marks on the syringe body, the syring ring and the needle. One looks like a bird in a lozenge, the other I am not sure .. an ant?

The insect mark is a counter mark, called the bigorne. If you use the search function you’ll find some good info about the counter mark. This mark occurs on the opposite side of the silver standard mark - your distal and outside photos. The silver standard mark hasn’t been cleaned out, but appears to be the boar’s, indicating at least 800 standard silver.
The mark in the lozenge-shaped reserve is the maker’s mark. I’m away from my library until August, so can’t help with the maker at this time. If someone doesn’t have the name for you, I can help later in the summer.
