I was given this item along with an antique Ink Pen. I have established that it is made by Richard Martin and Ebenezer Hall of Martin, Hall & Co, but they did not make Ink Wells so I am at a loss to what it is or the date.
It is very likely that Martin, Hall & Co made inkwells; indeed you have presented us with the proof that they did. They were a large firm of manufacturing silversmiths and probably made examples of pretty near everything which could be made of silver. I suspect that you may have been looking at my web site and have misinterpreted the meaning of the "Seen-On" column; this is merely intended to show on which items I have seen that particular maker's mark. It is potentially useful information for silversmiths who specialised in only a few products, but is practically meaningless for prolific producers like MH&Co.
