Identical hallmark pix

Post by abel »

On the German Hallmarks after 1886 page, the marks photographed for Hugo Böhm and Gustav Hauber are literally identical except for the maker’s marks. As someone still in the early learning stages about silver, what should I make of this? Thanks for your time.

After 1886 the crescent moon & crown mark were mandatory.

I belive they are both correct.
Here's a better picture of the Gustav Hauber mark.

Thanks for responding, Pat. To be more specific, I was wondering whether one of the maker's marks (probably the Hauber) was faked in the picture--since the other marks are clearly from the same photo. What do you think?
