watch chain / slide Cougar head? JS A

Post by silvernovice »

Hi, I have a watch chain with a slide that is markd on the end rings with the following

Inside an oval indent - A (very tiny block lettering) then what looks to me like a cougar head pointing left with mouth open, ears down bottom teeth visible, then an * or a 4 or a+. Its a very small mark. In front of the oval indent are the initials JS.

Slide has the A inside a square indent. This is also block lettering. JS appears in one other area. I am putting a link to the picture only of the piece. The marks are so small that 30x loupe is not even working......

Thanks for any help you can give.

I have found my mark finally. It is listed in silver marks of the world by jan divis. The A signifies Vienna, the cougar head is from the former austro-hungarian empire 1872- 1922 and the 4 signifies 750/1000. Just incase any one is interested. thanks to all the people who looked at my posting!!! I love this site!
