Hi I need some help with this one.
I can't find any marks at all on this piece. It appears to be engraved leaded crystal. Intricate sliver nickel (?) handle and spout - thanks in advance.
Need Help identifying this decanter
Re: Need Help identifying this decanter
Generally classified as "Claret Jug"...many search entries for claret, and lots of firms dealt in this kind of thing. They may also be known as a "water service pitcher" when used in commercial settings (restaurant, hotel, ship, rail, etc.). It is interesting that the top is cut at the base to show gates in a wall (Israel, Germany, ??) or doors to a structure (temple, citadel, or ?). I guess the handle is a serpent and this might repeat with the coils on the glass (among the fern/floral garden/forest). All of which may point to the nature of the face...Green man mythology, Biblical Creation story, Roman Bacchus Kult, on and on. Cut vs. pressed glass might make a big difference in sources.
Help Identifying this really cool piece.
I am not sure, but think this is some kind of beer stein or wine server. I am hopeful that one of you experts can help me. It is quite beautiful and intricately designed. It was with several much older pieces of silverware.
thanks in advance

Hi,
I'm not sure why you posting the same question again, as you have had an (unacknowledged) answer?
It is, as previously stated, a claret jug.
