What is it used for and period

Post by bread_baby »

Fork made of steel with decorative fire? gilding. Decorations include flowers that look like roses and two fishes crossing each other. Very shallow engravings of roses en fishes throughout. The most left prong is extra wide and has a sharp left side.
The handle is made of silver with Dutch mark from 1860-1893, however I suspect it is not the original handle.

Size: 30cm / 12inch, total length.

How would such a fork be called and when was it used?

Hi

Seems a bit long to be used as an amputee fork/knife. Maybe it was designed as a serving piece.

That is so cool.

Tested the edge on my nail and it is too dull to catch like a knife. Although I think it certainly is meant to slice something.
