A friend of mine asked me about this punching of a watch case.
I seem to recognize London 1845, but I could not give him an answer when he asked me why there is not the queen's head.
Can anyone tell me?
Thanks

Re: A watch case
There is no queen's head duty mark because there was no tax to pay. Duty on gold and silver watch cases was abolished on 9 March 1798.
The case maker is John West of 24 Banner Street, St Luke's, London.
