Help with mark

Post by mdlock »

Hello I have a beautiful bent ladle made by Simon Janowitz. It has a couple Mark's I cant really see. Please help. The piece has a beautiful Phoenix or Griffon on it and a patent date of 1873.

I believe the designer was Charles Osborne and the retailer was Richard Janowitz of Baltimore.

For the record, that is the "Arabesque"pattern of Whiting.

Looking at the Janowitz's again, this piece could easily have been retailed by the father. Simon and sons were watchmakers.
