I have come across a cut glass serving set that I would like to purchase. It has a number of marks, but I cannot identify with any confidence the items provenance. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Help identify "1614" "E" and a "T" inside of a shield marks
Re: Help identify "1614" "E" and a "T" inside of a shield marks
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
Just speculation on my part, but the 'T' mark may be the Greek letter 'tau', a date letter used by Walker & Hall to indicate the year 1902.
I have seen Walker & Hall items before that are just marked with a date letter.

Why thank you, Trev. Do you have any idea what the other marks indicate?
Re: Help identify "1614" "E" and a "T" inside of a shield marks
Upon closer inspection, it looks like it could be "H-4" next to the date mark and a small capital E etched in over the mark.

I don't think the scratched marks are of any consequence, just personal inventory marks or jewellers' stock marks.

I've always associated these scratched marks as pawnbrokers references !
