Can anyone help with this hallmark on silver chain purse?

Post by nich52 »

I cannot identify the marks on this silver chain purse. They are also too small for my camera to photograph, so I have done a drawing of the marks - is this OK?

I assume the "A.T." is a makers mark - I am not 100% sure about the 'A', but the 'T' is definitely right. The marks are absolutely tiny. The small 'm' which I take to be a date letter is also very hard to see but I think it is right. I am most interested in the kind of upside down omega kind of symbol.
Apologies if I have commited any 'faux pas', this is the first time of posting on this forum. Thanks[/img]

Hi,
The oval omega sign shows that it was imported though London after 1906, the 925 is for the Sterling standard of 925/1000, I'm a little unsure of your date mark drawing but guess this would be either 1907 or 1927, sorry I cannot help with the importer.

London import mark and date letters are shown here ->
London Hallmarks
You should be able to work out the date from the chart.

Thanks very much for the information. I am pretty sure the date is 1907.

Nick
