Gedeon Naz. Bychkova Kostroma 1899 Silver piece
Gedeon Naz. Bychkova Kostroma 1899 Silver piece
Dears, I have a silver piece made by Gedeon Naz. Bychkova from Kostroma. This Sugar/milk cup with handle has makers mark and Kostroma mark, i presume. Can anyone give some more info on this silver smith from Russia? I have desperately trying to search and find info but so far not been able to retrieve any pictures of makers work, birth date et cetera. Appreciate all info possible on this maker. I can also see "example Needed" on makers initial, i can supply if requested?

It would be much appreciated if you show sharp, note sharp, close-ups of the marks and the marks only. Crop and enhance you photos before you show them. Secondly, what makes you think that Гедеон Бычков i.e Gedeon Bychkov (note the transliterated spelling) made the confectionery bowl. Undoubtedly he worked in Kostroma 1898-1899 but as an assayer and not a maker. The maker's mark Г.Б points in a totally different direction. But show some new pictures as requested and we'll see what they tell...

Sorry, it is a salt cellar...
Re: Gedeon Naz. Bychkova Kostroma 1899 Silver piece
That is the maker and he is not in Kostroma but in Moscow as AG 2012 already mentioned. It is Moscow's town mark, riding St. George, on the hallmark. Nonetheless, I would preferably call him ...Heinrich Ludvigovich by his forenames. The transliteration from Russian is always difficult. Some times I see Helsinki written in Russian Гелсинки (Gelsinki)...why !?

Hi,
Looks complicated but well explained here:
Why does Russian change 'H' to 'G' in many English words?

Have a nice weekend Qrt.S.

@AG2012
Thanks, but nevermind it. It is the same "stupidity" with writing Hlebnikov as Khlebnikov etc. etc. ....???
Have a nice weekend you too.

@ToKaSi
Nice photo and now you can see for yourself that the town marks is not Kostroma's mark.

Re: Gedeon Naz. Bychkova Kostroma 1899 Silver piece
Yes i can see...
However, is there any information on this person? Birth/dead, Moscow you say?
Known or rather unknown maker? This is an old piece which has gone from relatives to relatives and somehow ended up here in Riga with some long distance family member. She is very interested to know more about the maker?
Anyone?
Best Regards/Tommy

Unfortunately I don't know more than what is already said. However, I found that his surname is actually Heinrich Ludvigovich Blütenklepper but that's all, sorry.
