Sterling Mark London Datemark No Assay?

Hello. I've searched the forum and on the internet and can't quite get an answer. I have 2 candelabra extensions that I acquired without their original candle holder. They both have the sterling lion passant mark and the London date mark for 1926, but no makers mark nor assay. I'm curious why the lion passant would be used at that date instead of the .925 and is it common for extension pieces to maybe lack an assay mark. The pieces did acid test for sterling (I tested various areas). Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hi,

The marks are correct and as they should be. The item was assayed at London in 1969 and the marks shown are the secondary ones, the full set being applied to main body.

Why would you want to damage the piece by performing an acid test to it?
